The precipitation is expected to begin this afternoon in the form of sleet or freezing rain, changing over to all snow during the overnight. Snow will continue to fall all day Wednesday before tapering off Wednesday evening. Snow fall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour are possible.
Plan on difficult travel conditions, especially during the evening commute on Wednesday. Significant reductions in visibility are expected. Power outages are possible. Northeast to north winds could gust 20 to 30 mph at times.
While forecasts vary on the anticipated total accumulation, running from 6 inches to 18 inches, all are in agreement that this will be a significant “winter” storm.
