Hockley County Sheriff's Office calls for service and activities for Thursday, 3/8/18, through Sunday, 3/11/18.

Good Monday morning! The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office or Thursday, 3/8/18, through Sunday, 3/11/18.

3/8/18

-100 blk Veretto Rd, Levelland: Disturbance. Deputies were dispatched to a reported disturbance in the area. Deputies contacted an individual walking in the area that reported the incident was verbal only. Parties were identified and released. No offenses were reported, and information was collected to document the incident.

-Hwy 114 at Grant St, Smyer: Escort. Deputies provided traffic assistance for a funeral escort from Smyer to Levelland.

-500 blk Tim, Levelland: Disturbance. Deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence in the area. All parties advised the disturbance was verbal only and no party reported any offenses. Information was collected to document the incident.

3/9/18

-Hwy 114 near FM 168, Smyer: Vehicle Crash. Deputies were dispatched to a single vehicle crash on Hwy 114. Troopers arrived on scene to conduct the crash investigation and deputies provided traffic control assistance until the scene was cleared.

-Hwy 114 near Kelly Rd, Levelland: Motorist Assist. A deputy was contacted by a citizen traveling east on the highway and requested an escort into Levelland. Deputies are not permitted to provide individual vehicle escorts and offered to provide emergency medical assistance if needed. However, the area was checked and the vehicle was not located.

-300 blk College Ave, Levelland: Assist Levelland PD. Deputies assisted Levelland PD with an arrest in the area. One individual was taken into custody without incident.

3/10/18

-2300 blk Sunrise Ln, Levelland: Dog Bite. A deputy responded after an individual reported being bitten by a loose dog in the area. The dog was located and is being quarantined. A report was completed related to the incident.

-FM 168 at Bear Rd, Smyer: Loose Livestock. A deputy was notified of loose cattle in the area. The cattle were located and secured. Owner information was collected.

-200 blk Cherry, Levelland: Assault. A deputy was in the area and heard a disturbance coming from a residence. Dispatch was contacted and additional units were requested. The incident was investigated and one individual was placed under arrest for Assault. The individual was transported to the jail and booked without incident.

-100 blk Lincoln, Smyer: Assault. Deputies were dispatched to meet with a complainant regarding an assault report. Information was collected and the matter is under investigation.

-1400 blk 8th St, Levelland: Assist Levelland PD. Deputies assisted Levelland PD officers with a disturbance in the area. One individual was taken into custody by Levelland PD officers and transported to the jail.

-Hwy 114 at Barton Ln, Opdyke West: Reckless Driver. A deputy was notified of a reckless driver on Hwy 114 traveling westbound. The vehicle was located in the area of Barton Ln. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, however the drier continued westbound and struck a vehicle at the intersection at Alamo Rd. The driver continued westbound and finally stopped near Hwy 114 at Cedar. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the jail.

3/11/18

-2300 blk Hwy 385, Levelland: Vehicle Crash. A deputy assisted with a reported vehicle crash in the area. A trooper arrived on scene to conduct the crash investigation. Two individuals were transported for treatment.

-Hwy 385 at Ontario Rd, Whitharral: Suspicious Activity. A deputy responded to a report of an individual in the ditch along the roadway. The individual was contacted and transported into Levelland. He advised he was walking toward Levelland and had stopped to rest.

-5900 blk Foster Rd, Ropesville: Pedestrian Contact. A deputy stopped and contacted individuals walking along the roadway in the area. The information was documented, and no offenses were reported or observed.

-400 blk McKinley, Smyer: Medical Assist. A deputy responded to a reported medical incident at a residence. One individual was transported voluntarily for assessment and treatment.

Deputies also conducted close patrols/vacation watches, patrols in all areas of the county, investigative follow-up activities, and civil process service.

Jail population as of Monday, 3/12/18, at 0800 hours: 57 in Hockley County, 6 to be processed, 8 out of county.
