Bank robbery suspect apprehended.

On March 5th at about 5:43 pm, the Emeryville Police Department received a call from Wells Fargo Bank at 5801 Christie Ave. about a bank robbery that just occurred. The suspect displayed a firearm during the robbery and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the bank. As officers were responding, the suspect fled the scene. When officers arrived they immediately checked the welfare of the bank employees and patrons and searched for the suspect. The suspect was not located.

Over the past week, the Emeryville Police Department detectives diligently followed up on leads and conducted interviews. Over the course of the week, the detectives generated strong leads as to who the lone suspect was. Yesterday, March 9th, the detectives located and arrested the suspect, Lavon Broach, just before 1:00 pm, in Oakland. Broach was taken into custody without incident. Broach is a 52-year-old Oakland resident.

The Emeryville Police Department wants to extend a much deserved thank you to everyone who assisted in this incident and to the bravery of those involved. Our success relies heavily on the assistance of our cherished community members who we diligently serve and protect.
