A State of Emergency is hereby declared in the Town of Yorktown effective 12:00PM on Wednesday March 7, 2018.

The State of Emergency has been declared in conjunction with the State of Emergency declared in Westchester County by Govenor Cuomo. It is expected that heavy snowfall and white out conditions will make travelling on Town roadways extremely dangerous. Wind gusts have been forecast to be upwards of 40 MPH, in addition to the heavy snow. We are treating this as a dangerous storm. The ability of emergency personnel to respond to public need and to provide emergency services is our highest priority and will be impacted by the storm. The Highway Department needs the roadways clear of vehicular traffic in order to safely plow our roads and enhance our ability to respond to emergencies and life threatening situations. This storm threatens public safety!!

This State of Emergency will remain in effect until 9:00AM Thursday March 8, 2018.

As the Supervisor of the Town of Yorktown, I Ilan Gilbert, exercise the authority given me under section 24 of the New York State Executive Law to preserve the public safety and hereby render all required and available assistance vital to the security, well being, and health of the citizens of the Town of Yorktown.

I hereby direct that all travel on the roadways in the Town of Yorktown is restricted to EMERGENCY VEHICLES, TOWN HIGHWAY VEHICLES, UTILITY VEHICLES, and essential emergency personnel. All unnecessary travel is prohibited.

I further direct that all Town of Yorktown Departments and agencies take whatever steps necessary to protect life and property and to provide whatever emergency assistance as necessary.
