Driver Arrested at Courthouse for Violating Judge's Order of License Suspension

Simi Valley Police arrested a driver on 3/6/18 at the Simi Valley Courthouse for driving with a suspended license within a half hour of a judge ordering the driver not to drive.

Senior Officer Vernon Trujillo and Officer Daniel Kalbacher were in the Simi Valley Courtroom and witnessed the presiding Judge order Alexis Sanchez, aged 21 of Camarillo, an immediate 30-day license suspension.

Officer Kalbacher had issued Sanchez a citation on a prior date for driving at 121 miles per hour on the 118 freeway. Sanchez was found guilty and the court seized his driver license and issued the order.

The Officers witnessed Sanchez leave the courthouse and get behind the wheel of his car and drive toward the parking lot exit. When Sanchez observed Officer Kalbacher videotaping him behind the wheel driving, he immediately parked his vehicle toward the back of the courthouse parking lot where he was contacted by Officers Kalbacher and Trujillo.

Mr. Sanchez was arrested for driving his vehicle on a suspended license and his vehicle was impounded for 30-days.

Driving restrictions are important for the safety of all drivers and pedestrians on the roadway. The concept of following the order of a judge in a courtroom is of equal importance. The Simi Valley Police Department encourages anyone with knowledge of someone driving who shouldn't be to let us know.
