7AM WEDNESDAY WINTER STORM UPDATE –
South Brunswick Police and Office of Emergency Management update for Wednesday morning. Overnight only light snow fell, all roads remain passable at this time. The forecast indicates a quick change over to heavy snow in the next few hours. South Brunswick Township Offices are closed today, all South Brunswick Public Schools are closed today. The worst of the storm is expected to impact our Township by mid-morning. Total snowfall is expected to be between 5 to 10 inches.

FORECAST
Coastal Storm Strengthens This Morning...Light snow that fell overnight provided some minor accumulations with generally no pavement problems. We are now in a lull, but that quickly changes to morning as our coastal system starts to take shape. Guidance overnight has shown a cooler consensus with virtually minimal mixing during the morning hours. As a result, bands of steady / heavy precipitation that move in by late morning should be in the form of mainly snow with 1-2"+ per hr rates possible. The heaviest snow continues thru the afternoon before tapering off early this evening. Due to the minimal mixing, we have bumped totals back to 5.0 - 10.0". Once any lingering snow ends this evening, we begin to clear out and remain breezy overnight. Due to the heavy, wet snow expected combined with gusty winds (up to 25 - 35 mph), downed trees and power lines are certainly in play. In addition, watch for some freezing of slush/wet surfaces as temps cool to or below freezing
