The Fairfield Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Dispatch began getting reports of a shooting in the area of Clay Bank Road and Sprig Court at 9:37am. Officers arrived and located a 17 year old female victim with a gunshot wound. They rendered aid to the victim until she was transported to a local hospital by paramedics. She is currently is stable condition with a non-life threatening injury.
The preliminary investigation revealed the victim had been walking north on Clay Bank Road when someone inside of an unknown-type car driving by shot the victim. The car continued driving north toward Air Base Parkway.
Officers closed Clay Bank Road for about an hour while the scene was processed. Investigators are actively working this case to identify and arrest the persons responsible. This is not believed to be a random crime.
