Hockley County Sheriff's Office calls for service and activities for Thursday, 3/1/18, through Sunday, 3/4/18.

Good Monday morning! The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for Thursday, 3/1/18, through Sunday, 3/4/18.

3/1/18

-400 blk Reed, Whitharral, Theft. A deputy was dispatched to a residence in the area related to a possible theft. When the deputy arrived he was advised the stolen item had been located. No offense was reported.

-4th St at Grant St, Smyer: Theft. Deputies responded to a reported theft of property in the area. The complainant did not want to pursue any charges and the property was returned.

-100 blk E. 8th St, Sundown: Assist Sundown PD. A deputy was dispatched to assist Sundown PD with a disturbance at a residence. One individual was taken into custody by Sundown PD and transported to the jail. Sundown PD handled the investigation.

-Hwy 114 at FM 2378, Smyer: A deputy was notified of a reckless driver on Hwy 114 traveling westbound toward Levelland. The area was checked and the vehicle described was not located.

3/2/18

-2400 blk Hwy 114, Levelland: Alarm. A deputy responded to an alarm at a business in the area. The building was checked and secured. No offenses were reported.

-FM 303 at Hwy 114, Levelland: Vehicle Crash. A deputy was dispatched to the area to locate a possible vehicle crash. There were signs a vehicle had driven into the ditch along the roadway but no vehicle was located in the area.

-4100 blk US 62/82, Ropesville: Alarm. A deputy responded to an alarm at a residence. The homeowners were contacted and the activation was accidental. No offenses were reported.

-Hwy 385 near Maine Rd: Loose Livestock. A deputy was notified of possible loose livestock in the area. The area was checked and all cattle were properly secured.

3/3/18

-6500 blk Oxen Rd, Ropesville: Assist EMS. A deputy responded to a residence in the area related to an individual requesting assistance. EMS arrived on scene and treated one individual.

-700 blk Carson, Ropesville: Alarm. Deputies were dispatched to an alarm at a residence in the area. The property was checked and found to be secure.

-1600 blk Avenue X, Levelland: Noise Complaint. Deputies were dispatched to a loud noise complaint at a residence in the area. The owner stopped the party and individuals left the area.

-FM 2130 at Louisiana Rd, Anton: Disturbance. Deputies responded to a reported disturbance in the area. Information was collected for a report.

-FM 1585 at Hwy 385, Levelland: Suspicious Vehicle. A deputy was notified of a suspicious vehicle in the area. The area was checked and the vehicle described was not located.

3/4/18

-100 blk Mandy Circle, Opdyke West: Burglary. A deputy was dispatched to a residence regarding a burglary offense. A report was taken and the matter is under investigation. A possible suspect was identified by the complainant.

-FM 1585 near Hummingbird Rd, Levelland: Loose Livestock. A deputy responded to the area to attempt to locate loose cattle. The area was checked and no loose livestock were located. All were secured properly.

-US 62/82 near FM 41, Ropesville: Vehicle Crash. A deputy was notified by ER staff at an area hospital of a possible vehicle crash in the Ropesville area. An individual reported he fell asleep and crashed in the area. Deputies checked and did not immediately find a possible crash scene. Deputies will follow up to attempt to locate any damage in the area.

Deputies also conducted close patrols/vacation watches, patrols in all areas of the county, investigative follow-up activities, and civil process service.

Jail population as of 3/5/18 at 0800 hours: 54 in Hockley County, 3 to be processed, 3 out of county.
