Single Vehicle Injury Crash

Sheriff Richard Behnke reports that on 3/4/18 at 2100 hours his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash that occurred on Shurte St, east of M 62 in LaGrange Township, Cass County Michigan. 34 year old Dowagiac resident, Jared Green, was a passenger in the vehicle when it went off the roadway and struck a tree. He was transported to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac for treatment. Jared was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. A second passenger in the vehicle was uninjured and was wearing his seatbelt. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the accident prior to deputies arrival. Alcohol is believed to be a factor. This case remains under investigation.

Assisting Deputies on scene were Pokagon Tribal Police, Central Cass Fire Department and Pride Care Ambulance.
