Full Notification

On Thursday, March 1^st, 2018, at about 8:30 pm San Mateo Police Officers responded to an in-progress burglary at a business complex located at 1810 Gateway Drive. A business owner told SMPD dispatch he saw an unknown man inside of his business on his security camera after receiving an alarm notification. 
 
Officers quickly established a perimeter around the business and located a parked car in the parking lot that was occupied by a man seated in the driver’s seat and woman as a passenger. As our officers attempted to contact the two, the man immediately sped off, but collided into a raised parking median a short distance away which disabled the car. The man quickly exited the car and fled on foot through the parking lot, across Highway 92 and to the rear of the Bridgepointe Shopping Center. Officers detained the woman who remained with the car.
 
SMPD Officers and with the assistance of K-9 Zigi located and arrested the man who was found hiding in a dumpster. The man was identified as 36-year-old Kethen Hubbard. The female was identified 34-year-old Kayla Mitchell.
 
Inside the suspect’s car, officers located stolen property from the business complex and burglary tools.  Hubbard and Mitchell were consequently booked into san Mateo county Jail.

Charges: Commercial Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Burglary Tools, Resisting an Officer, and Conspiracy.
