Advisory

** Weather Advisory ** Possible flooding, high winds, downed tree limbs & power lines. 3-1-2018 to 3-2-2018.

We are watching a large storm that is bringing rain and snow into the area. Because its a nor' easter, I am raising the Dorothy Index to 7 so hang on tight to Toto!  I will issue the newly designed and very scientific Ariel index of 8 (Lots of rain and flooding and Mermaid Approved) . I am hoping it is much less that expected but the storm is moving in later this afternoon and will make driving conditions difficult and could cause flooding. If you see a flooded road, turn around and be safe and late instead of rushed and very late. Expect power outages from downed tree limbs. We will be checking in with our weather expert Sgt. McMahon for updated details!
Please stay safe!

From NOAA:
A major nor’easter will affect the region tonight through Saturday.
 Precipitation will be moving into the area from the southwest late today, falling heavy at times through Friday before ending late Friday night. Rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts north of I-78.
 Urban and poor-drainage flooding can be expected with the rain, followed by possible stream and river flooding into the weekend.
 Winds will become northwest and increase rapidly Friday morning with speeds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts 50 to 65 mph through Friday evening before diminishing Friday night and Saturday. Downed trees and power lines are likely.
 Rain will change over to snow in the Poconos and northwest NJ Friday morning with plowable snow expected. Changeover to snow may gradually spread southeast into the Lehigh Valley and northern New Jersey through the day into the evening before ending late Friday night. Strong winds will create severely reduced visibilities at times in falling snow.
 Minor to locally moderate coastal flooding is expected on the New Jersey coast during high tide Friday, with moderate to locally major flooding possible on the NJ/DE Atlantic coast and the coast of Delaware Bay Saturday. Beach erosion can also be expected Friday and Saturday.
