High Wind Warning until 12:00PM Saturday

...VERY STRONG WINDS EXPECTED TONIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS AND FOOTHILLS OF THE CAROLINAS AND EXTREME NORTHEAST GEORGIA... .A strong cold front will move across the region late today. The wind is expected to shift around to northwest behind the front this evening, and strengthen significantly as low pressure develops well to our north. The strong northwest winds will continue through the day Friday and then overnight before tapering off Saturday morning. ...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON EST SATURDAY... The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a High Wind Warning, which is in effect from 6 PM this evening to noon EST Saturday. The High Wind Watch is no longer in effect.

* LOCATIONS...Mountains and Foothills of North Carolina including the Blue Ridge Escarpment of Upstate South Carolina and extreme Northeast Georgia.

* HAZARDS...Strong to damaging winds.

* TIMING...Beginning Thursday night and continuing into Saturday morning.

* WINDS...Northwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

* IMPACTS...The strong winds will blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Numerous power outages are expected across the higher elevations. Minor structural damage will be possible. Driving conditions will be dangerous for high-profile vehicles.
