Nature of Incident: Prescription / Rx Collection Results @ Leisure Village
Report Number:
Location: 200 Leisure Village Drive, Camarillo, Ca
Date & Time: February 17, 2018 / 10:00AM – 1:00PM
Unit(s) Responsible: Camarillo Police Department’s Community

Narrative:
On Saturday February 17, 2018, the Camarillo Police Department partnered with Leisure Village Security to collect unused / expired prescription medication, from residents of the village. The collection time was from 10:00AM – 1:00PM and 103 pounds of unused / expired medication was collected in just three hours. The Camarillo Police Department started its first prescription Rx collection at Leisure Village, in December of 2012.

Since 2012, a total of over 1,287 pounds of unused / expired prescription medication has been collected from Leisure Village. The Camarillo Police Department conducts these collections because we know how difficult it may be for some in our senior community to discard their unused medications at the Police Department. We are also aware that grandchildren can access medicine cabinets rather easily, so by bringing the collection to Leisure Village, we are trying to make it easier for the residents to discard their old or unused prescription medication.

The Camarillo Police Department would like to thank the residents of Leisure Village and Leisure Village Security for their help in making our community a safer one. As a reminder, if you want to drop off unused / expired medications at the Camarillo Police Department or any other Sheriff sub-station, we have Pharmaceutical drop-off bins in all of our lobbies. The lobbies at each sub-station are open Monday-Friday from 8:00AM-5:00PM.
