INCIDENT: CVC 2800.2- Traffic Pursuit/PC 236 False Imprisonment

LOCATION: N. State Street/W. Blake Steet, Muscoy

SUSPECT(S): Bulmaro Rios, 32-year-old residence of Muscoy

VICTIM(S): Confidential


SUMMARY: On Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at approximately 9:57 p.m., Deputy Cavender attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a brown Chevrolet Silverado for vehicle code violations. The driver, later identified as Bulmaro Rios, accelerated and a vehicle pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, Rios drove on the wrong side of the road, placing nearby motorists in danger. As a result of Rios' erratic and reckless driving, he collided with a parked vehicle. Rios exited the vehicle and ran from Cavender. Rios entered an occupied residence and barricaded himself with a family inside and prevented them from leaving. Deputies were able to enter the residence and arrested Rios without further incident.

During the investigation, Deputies found Rios was currently on California Department of Corrections (CDC) parole for HS 11378, Possession of a Controlled Substance of Sale. Rios also had two felony warrants issued for his arrest for PC 215(a), Carjacking and a Parole Violation.

Rios was transported and booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga for violation of CVC 2800.2, Failure to Yield, PC 236 False Imprisonment and his active warrants. Rios is currently being held without bail.
