FLOOD WARNING INFORMATION STATEMENT

FLOOD WARNING INFORMATION

The Illinois River is forecast to rise to near record levels over the next 24 hours, affecting areas along the river and its tributaries. This will compare to the April 2013 Flood event. If you reside or work in a flood prone area, public safety officials strongly suggest you develop a plan of action now so that if you must evacuate you will have access to get out before becoming flooded in.

In addition to the danger of flood water, is the forecasted low temperature of 27 degrees coupled with rain, freezing rain, sleet and northwest winds 15mph gusting as high as 25mph. This will result in extremely cold flood water which could result in hypothermia and potentially dangerous travel conditions to move about.

Specific locations that typically have flood issues are:
Shady Oaks
Tabler Road
Ridge Crest
Tudor park
Cemetery Road
Ravine Woods
And Morris residents along Nettle Creek.
Again, make preparations now and have a plan of action.
