TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Residents Asked To Park on Odd Sides of the Street Due to Snow And To Observe No Parking on Snow Covered Roadways

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose is asking all residents to park their cars on odd numbered sides of their blocks on Saturday due to the expected snowfall. For instance, residents are asked to park on the sides of the streets with house numbers like 21, 123 and 567.

The latest forecasts predict snowfall of up to 4 inches, with snow expected to begin on Saturday in the evening hours, at around 6 p.m. and ending sometime Sunday morning around 6 a.m.

Also, the city’s “No Parking on Snow Covered Roads” regulations will be enforced tomorrow. New signs have been posted on streets throughout the City of Newark to notify motorists of the streets designated for no parking during snow storms. Motorist and residents are urged to look for the sign pictured below to identify the streets where the parking ban will be enforced.

The City of Newark offers winter shelters at 224-238 Sussex Avenue and at the John F. Kennedy Recreation Center at 211 West Kinney Street.

All residents are reminded that tossing snow into the street is against the law, and violators will be fined.

The Department of Public Safety is coordinating responses to weather related emergencies and other incidents through the combined use of Police, Fire and Office of Emergency Management Personnel.
