Police Blotter January 30th through February 8th

January 30th

Residential Burglary/Warrant Arrest - 600 Block of Kearney St:
Officers were dispatched to the location for a burglary that had just occurred. The victim advised he confronted the suspect inside his detached garage taking items. The suspect fled prior to officers’ arrival. An officer was circulating the area for the suspect and located a 33-year-old transient male that matched the description given by the victim. During an infield show-up, the male was identified as being the responsible. Officer conducted a records check and discovered the male had two outstanding warrants from Solano County. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Drunk in Public - 10100 Block of San Pablo Ave:
Officers responded to the location in regards to an unwanted subject. An officer located a 36-year-old transient male that appeared intoxicated and unable to care for himself. The male was placed under arrest and transported.

Residential Burglary – 500 block of Clayton Ave:
Between 1500 to 1515 hours, five suspects broke into the victim’s house by breaking a window on the back of the house. The suspects stole silver and a laptop. A neighbor saw 5 juveniles around the house during the above mentioned time frame. Suspect-1 waited out front while Ssuspect-2, 3, 4, and 5 went to the backyard. Suspect-1 was described as black male, 16 years old, 5-10, slim build, dark color jeans, and grey sweatshirt with a black backpack. Suspect-2, 3, and 4 were described as black males, 16 years old, wearing dark colored clothing, jeans, and all wearing backpacks. Suspect-5 was described as a black male, 16 years old, heavy set, grey hoodie, red backpack. They all left southbound on Clayton Avenue.

Warrant – Waldo Ave / Kearney St:
An officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 35 year old man from El Cerrito on a no cite San Francisco warrant. He was booked at the ECPD and transported to MDF.

January 31st

Shoplift - (Marshall’s)10794 San Pablo Ave:
Officers were dispatched to Marshall's in regards to a theft that had just occurred. The suspect attempted to exit the store when he was confronted by employees. The suspect returned the merchandise. The employees recognized the suspect as a 29-year-old male from Oakland from previous thefts. He was last seen walking southbound towards the BART path. Officers located the male and he was placed under Citizen’s Arrest. After booking, the male was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Battery- 5040 El Cerrito Plaza:
An officer reported the victim was walking in front of 5040 El Cerrito Plaza when two suspects pushed him to the ground. The victim defended himself by fighting back. While on the ground the suspects kicked the victim.

DUI – Moeser Lane / Ashbury Ave:
At 0102 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 28 -year-old female from Vallejo for DUI. She was booked at the ECPD -and then released on a citation.

February 1st

Shoplifting – (Safeway) 11450 San Pablo Ave:
Officers were advised of a theft that had just occurred at Safeway. A 29-year-old male transient was detained at Del Norte BART and placed under Citizen’s Arrest after an infield show-up. He was booked at the ECPD and released on a citation.

Shoplifting – (Safeway) 11450 San Pablo Ave:
Staff from Safeway called to report a theft. An officer located the 30-year-old male suspect on the BART path. He was detained and placed under citizen arrest. He refused to speak with officers and provided different names. His identity was confirmed at the ECPD and he was released on a citation.

Stolen Vehicle – 1600 block of Lexington Ave:
Between 0550 and 1710 hours, and unknown suspect stole the victim’s green 2 door 1996 Acura Integra.

Shoplifting – (Walgreens) 11565 San Pablo Ave:
Officers responded to a suspicious person filling a backpack in the store with merchandise. The subject left without paying and was located him in the Church’s Chicken lot. The 58-year-old male from Richmond was positively identified during an infield show-up. He was placed under citizen arrest and cited in the field.

Auto Burglary, Probation Violation, Possession of Composite Knuckles- 2000 block of Key Blvd:
ECPD officers were dispatched to a report of a possible auto burglary in progress. The reporting party directed officers to the suspect’s location and an officer spotted and detained one of the suspects, a 37-year-old Richmond male who is on probation. The other suspect was on a bicycle and was not located. Officers located one vehicle with a shattered window, which was the same vehicle the reporting party saw both suspects standing next to. The reporting party observed the males looking into car windows of other vehicles as well. The suspect was positively identified and he was arrested and transported to county jail.

February 2nd

Stolen Motor Scooter - 5500 block of MacDonald Ave:
A male suspect with a beard and his face covered by a cloth entered the side yard of the residence and removed an orange 2006 Buddy 50 cc motor scooter with Wisconsin plates. The scooter does not run.

Auto Burglary - 10800 block of San Pablo Ave:
An officer responded to the report of an auto burglary. In between 2100 hours and 0800 hours, an unidentified suspect smashed the window of a Ford F-150 and stole a gym bag with golf shoes. The officer located an additional victim vehicle, gold Nissan Sentra in the parking lot.

Battery – 10000 block of San Pablo Ave:
Officers responded to Sara’s Nail Salon on the report of a battery. A 56-year-old Richmond woman hit one of the workers in the head with a telephone during a dispute. Other staff members held her to the ground until officers arrived. She was placed under citizen’s arrest, booked and released on a citation.

Shoplifter - (Safeway) 11450 San Pablo Ave:
Officer Rivera responded to the report of a shoplifter in custody. A 47-year-old San Pablo man was placed under citizen’s arrest. He was field cited.

Warrant Arrest and Possession of over an ounce of Marijuana – 280 El Cerrito Plaza:
An officer was dispatched to a male who was passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle. The officer arrived and contacted a 41-year-old male. Wants and warrants check revealed the male had an outstanding warrant out of San Francisco. An inventory search of male’s vehicle revealed a duffel bag containing five pounds of marijuana. The male was booked and transported to county jail.

Spousal Battery and Assault with a Deadly Weapon – 10200 block of San Pablo Ave:
Officers responded to the above location of a report of two males assaulting one male. Officers arrived in the area and located a 37-year-old male, near Burger King. The male claimed he was assaulted by his boyfriend. Officers then received information a victim was at Nation’s. Officers located the victim inside and discovered he had several injuries to his head and face. The victim had reddening and bruising on his face and head along with a 3” laceration off the corner of his right eye. The victim stated he and the 37-year-old male got into an argument and in a fit of drunken rage the 37-year-old punched the victim, knocking him to the ground. Once on the ground the 37-year-old began to kick, punch and slam the victim’s face onto the pavement. Eventually the victim was able to get up and he walked to Nations. The 37-year-old male was booked and transported to county jail.

Trespassing, Obstruction, Probation Violation – 10100 block of San Pablo Ave:
Officers were dispatched to a business for a possible commercial burglary. Dispatch advised a neighbor saw a male in the court yard of his neighbor’s residence. Officers arrived on scene and formed a perimeter. While on the perimeter, the suspect, 58-year-old male was seen on the roof of the building. The male refused orders to come down from the roof. At one point an officer watched the male climb down from the roof using a tree on the Kearney Street side. Richmond Police units responded to assist. RPD also had an officer with a drone which was used to monitor the roof. Officers cleared the yard where the male was last seen. During the search the male was found hiding behind a crawl space door and when challenged by the K9, the male surrendered. A probation check revealed the male was on probation for burglarizing the same business and had a stay away order attached. The male was booked and transported to county.

February 3rd

Robbery – (Safeway) 11450 San Pablo Ave:
Officers responded to the report of a robbery that had just occurred. The suspect was described frequently stealing from the store. The staff advised him that he had to pay for his sandwich in the deli area before he leaves. He went behind the counter, becomes belligerent and displays a machete in his waistband. The manager sees the commotion and offers to assist. The suspect removed the machete from the holster and threatened to harm the manager. He then fled towards BART. On February 4th, the subject committed a similar robbery in a nearby jurisdiction. He was identified as the subject who committed the EC robbery. He was booked into the MDF on robbery charges.

Driving under the Influence and Driving without a license – San Pablo Ave and Knott Ave:
An officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested the driver, a 21-year-old male from Richmond for driving while under the influence and driving unlicensed. The male submitted to a blood draw and was booked.

February 4th

Shoplifting & Probation Violation - 10650 San Pablo Ave:
Officers responded to the report of a subject loading his pockets with merchandise from CVS and then fleeing the store. The suspect, a 56-year-old Richmond resident was located across the street. He was identified and placed under citizen’s arrest. He was already on probation for theft from CVS. He was booked and transported to the MDF.

Stolen Motorcycle - 6400 block of Waldo Ave:
An officer responded to the report of a stolen motorcycle. In between 2300 hours and 1100 hours, an unidentified suspect stole a black 1994 Honda Magna motorcycle with no rear fender.

Warrant Arrest, Methamphetamine and Burglary Tools - 11299 San Pablo Ave:
An officer was flagged down by about two subjects tampering with a vehicle on S. 56th St. He contacted the two subjects, a 27-year-old Richmond man and a 31-year-old Pittsburg woman. Both had Contra Costa County warrants. The male was found in possession of methamphetamine and a shaved key and the female had a window punch. Both were arrested, booked and transported to the MDF.

February 5th

Theft from Vehicle - 7400 block of Stockton Ave:
An officer reported an unknown suspect entered the victim’s vehicle via an unlocked door and removed property. The theft occurred in between 2/4@1445-2/5@0830 hours.

Armed Robbery - 11500 block of San Pablo Ave:
An officer reported the suspect asked the victim to use his cellphone. When given the phone, the suspect began to run away while swinging a knife. The victim chased the suspect and the suspect threw the phone back to the victim.

Stolen Vehicle - 1700 block of Manor Circle:
An officer reported an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1994 Honda Accord. The theft occurred in between 2/2@2200 to 2/3@0900 hours.

Battery - 10000 block of San Pablo Ave:
Officers were dispatched to the area for a fight in progress. An officer located the 53-year-old male of El Cerrito and the victim in the 10200 Block of San Pablo Ave. The officer discovered the male and the victim were walking in the area when the male punched the victim on the back of the head several times. The male was placed under Citizen’s Arrest. The male was transported to the ECPD and released on a citation after booking.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery - Elm St / Key Blvd:
A Community Service Officer located the victim’s 2009 Toyota Rav4 that was reported stolen to Milpitas Police on 1/24/18.

Forgery - (Bank of the West) 11100 San Pablo Ave:
Officers responded to the Bank of the West in regards to a forgery in progress. Officers detained the 59-year-old male of San Francisco after he attempted to cash a forged $850 check. After booking at the ECPD, the male was released on a citation.

Warrant – Manila Ave / San Pablo Ave:
An officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 63-year-old man from Richmond on a Fremont PD warrant. He was released on a citation in the field.

February 6th

Robbery (Strong Arm) – (Walgreens) 11565 San Pablo Ave:
An officer reported that a suspect entered the business and stole several cases of Ensure and Boost. The manager attempted to stop the subject from leaving the store by blocking his path and grabbing the pushcart. The suspect pushed and pulled the cart until he was able to get free.

Arson/Battery on an Officer– 6060 Central Ave. / 1000 El Cerrito Plaza:
Officers were dispatched to Nations for a subject that was starting a fire with a pile of trash. Officers responded to the area, accompanied by ECFD. The fire was extinguished and shortly thereafter, officers were dispatched to Lucky for the same subject lighting trash on fire. Officers located the 54-year-old female transient and placed her under arrest. During her arrest, the female kicked an officer in the leg. In booking, the female exhibited extreme highs and lows and spoke with multiple imaginary people. She was issued a citation for the criminal charges.

Residential Burglary – 1200 block of Rivera Ave:
An officer reported that three unknown suspects entered the victim’s residence by breaking a bathroom window and climbing in. Once inside, the suspects conducted a moderate ransack and stole property.

Shoplifting – (Safeway) 11450 San Pablo Ave:
An officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 30-year-old male from Oakland after he entered the store, ate food, and left without paying. After booking, the male was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Auto Burglary – 5300 block of School St:
Between 0730 an 1315 hours, an unknown suspect broke the front driver window of the victim’s truck and ransacked the interior.

Auto Burglary – 800 block of S. 53rd St:
Between 2/5/18 at 2000 and 2/6/18 at 0430 hours, an unknown suspect broke the rear window of the victim’s work van and stole tools.

Warrant, Possess Controlled Substance/Drug Paraphernalia – San Pablo Ave / Conlon Ave:
An officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 30-year-old man from Antioch on a Contra Costa County warrant. A search incident to arrest yielded methamphetamine, cocaine, and a pipe. He was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and released on a citation.

Battery – BART Path / Waldo Ave:
The victim was out for a jog and running southbound on the BART Path when he was surrounded by 4 males. One suspect punched the victim from behind and the victim fell to the ground. The males then assaulted the victim when he was on the ground. The victim was able to get up and run away. The suspects never demanded property or attempted to go through the victim’s pockets. The suspects were all described as Hispanic males between the ages of 18-20, 5-9, skinny, and wearing dark clothing.

February 7th

Stolen Vehicle Recovery - 6500 Manila Ave:
An officer located a 1996 Acura Integra that had been reported stolen to ECPD on the February 1st.

Shoplifting – (Marshall’s) 10794 San Pablo Ave:
Officers responded to a suspicious person and known thief removing tags from merchandise. Officers arrived on scene and detained a 38-year-old female from San Francisco as she left the store with over $300 in stolen merchandise. She was placed under citizen arrest, booked at the ECPD, and then released on a citation.

Warrant, Possess Controlled Substance – 11780 San Pablo Ave:
An officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the 29-year-old male driver from Santa Rosa for possession of heroin. He was also driving on a suspended license. He was booked at the ECPD and released on a citation. A 32-year-old female passenger from Santa Rosa was arrested on a no cite Napa County warrant. A second passenger, a 45-year-old man from Santa Cruz, was arrested on a no cite Contra Costa County warrant stemming from a previous ECPD arrest. They were both booked at the ECPD and transported to MDF.

February 8th

Auto Burglary – 2300 block of Carquinez Ave:
An unknown suspect used a “Slim Jim” device to gain access to the victim’s work van and stole tools. The burglary occurred in between 2/7@1600-2/8@0500 hours.

Auto Burglary – 2300 block of Carquinez Ave.
An unknown suspect smashed the left rear wing window of the victim’s vehicle and stole miscellaneous papers. The burglary occurred in between 2/7@2130 and 2/8@0845 hours.

Stolen Vehicle – 1200 block of Liberty St:
Between 2/6/18 at 1600 to 2/8/18 at 0001 hours, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s green 1998 Honda Civic 4-door.

Theft from vehicle – 2400 block of Edwards Ave:
Between 2/7/18 at 2130 and 2/8/2018 at 0500 hours, an unknown suspect entered the victim’s pickup truck lockbox and stole tools.

Grand theft from vehicle – 6900 block of Wilson Way:
Between 2/7/18 at 1830 and 2/8/18 at 1230 hours, an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked truck and rifled through the interior and stole a credit card and house keys. The suspect also located a key to the pickup truck lock box. The suspect accessed the truck bed and stole snow tires and tools.

Auto Burglary – 11900 block San Pablo Ave:
A member of El Cerrito Public Works came to the ECPD to report his city work truck was burglarized at Home Depot. The unknown suspect broke into the locked tool boxes and stole several tools including a chainsaw, leaf blower, and other tools. The loss is about $1400.
