GBPD to host Active Shooter Response Training

The Green Bay Police Department would like to extend its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims from yesterday’s shooting in Parkland, FL. These senseless acts of violence shock the conscious and can increase peoples’ fear about the possibility of this type of incident happening in our own community.

While the likelihood of an event of this nature taking place in our community remains very low, we feel that it is vitally important that schools, businesses, health care providers and public institutions in our community are well trained and prepared due to the serious risk involved with this type of incident. We realize that this is an uncomfortable topic to discuss. The intent of this press release is not to create fear or anxiety in the community. On the contrary, it is to inform you that the Green Bay Police Department, in a partnership with the community , is dedicated to creating a safe environment for residents to work and learn in. We believe that active shooter response training will greatly enhance the safety and security of our community.
