Hockley County Sheriff's Office calls for service and activities for Friday, 2/9/18, through Monday, 2/12/18.

Good Tuesday morning! The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for Friday, 2/9/18, through Monday, 2/12/18.

2/9/18

-FM 1585 at FM 168, Ropesville: Traffic Complaint. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate two vehicles traveling in a reckless manner. Ropesville ISD police assisted and located the vehicles in Ropesville along US 62/82. It was determined the occupants in one of the vehicles had stolen property from a residence on Owl Rd. The owner of the stolen property declined to pursue criminal charges and the property was returned. The parties were identified and released from the scene. All information was collected for a report.

-2400 blk Mockingbird, Levelland: Animal Complaint. A deputy responded to a complaint of loose dogs in the area. The owner was contacted and advised the dos would be picked up.

-3100 blk N. Hwy 385, Levelland: Suspicious Activity. A deputy responded to a complaint of an individual going door-to-door in the area. The area was checked and the individual, and described vehicle, were not located.

-1800 blk N. Hwy 385, Levelland: Fire. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a small grass fire. The fire department extinguished the fire.

-Veretto Rd at Ellis Rd, Levelland: Civil Issue. A deputy was contacted related to a complaint of dogs attacking chickens. Remedies were advised to parties.

-4900 blk E Hwy 114, Levelland: Traffic Complaint. A deputy checked status on a vehicle parked in the median along the roadway. The owner was contacted and the vehicle was moved.

-2800 blk FM 1490, Levelland: Disturbance. A deputy met with several individuals who were involved in a verbal altercation. No offenses were reported and parties were separated. Information was collected for a report.

2/10/18

-3200 blk FM 168, Smyer: Suspicious Activity. A deputy was dispatched to meet with a homeowner related to a vehicle parked on the property. The vehicle fled the area and information was passed on to deputies. The information was documented and the area remains on a close patrol. No offenses were reported.

-500 blk Carson, Ropesville: Fire. A deputy responded to a reported structure fire in the area. Fire Departments responded and the fire was extinguished.

2/11/18

-1310 Avenue H, LEC: Fraud. A deputy spoke with a complainant regarding a credit card fraud report. Information was collected and the matter is under investigation.

-1000 blk Ellington, Ropesville: Theft. Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the area related to a reported theft of firearms. Information related to the theft was collected and the matter is being investigated. Reports were taken for burglary of vehicle and theft of firearm.

-900 blk FM 3261, Levelland: Vehicle Pursuit. A deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for an observed traffic violation near Cactus and Sherman. The driver fled and deputies pursued until the driver stopped on FM 3261. One individual was placed under arrest for Man/Delivery Controlled Substance 4>200 grams, Possession of Marijuana <2 oz, Evading Arrest/Detention with Vehicle, and Tampering with Evidence.

-9th St at Avenue D, Levelland: Assist Levelland PD. A deputy responded to assist Levelland PD officer with a disturbance in the area. One individual was arrested and the investigation is being handled by the PD.

-100 blk Hwy 114 Estates, Smyer: Warrant Arrest. A deputy was dispatched to meet with a complainant to assist with a civil issue. Later another subject was contacted and it was determined he had a warrant. One individual was taken into custody and transported to the jail without incident.

2/12/18

-2700 blk Belvedere Rd, Levelland: Theft. A deputy was notified of a theft offense in the area. Several tools and items were reported stolen from the property. The matter is under investigation.

Deputies also conducted close patrols/vacation watches, patrols in all areas of the county, investigative follow-up activities, civil process service, and traffic enforcement.

Jail population as of 2/13/18 at 0800 hours: 44 in Hockley County, 2 to be processed, 6 out of county.
