Credit Card Thefts from Teachers

The Davis Police Department is trying to identify a suspect who may have stolen credit cards from teachers and used the accounts to make purchases.

The first incident was reported on January 31, 2018, at Korematsu. The victim left her purse in an empty classroom. When she returned her wallet was stolen and her credit cards were subsequently used to make purchases at the Target store in Davis and Safeway in Vacaville. The second incident occurred on February 7, 2018, at Montgomery Elementary school in Davis. The victim’s credit cards were used to make purchases at Michael’s and Nordstrom Rack in Vacaville. Both incidents took placed between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM when the classrooms were empty.

At this point, we believe the suspect is not affiliated with the school district in any way and surrounding jurisdictions may be investigating similar events. Below are video surveillance photographs of the suspect provided to us by the merchants.

If anyone has any information about who the suspect in this case is, you are encouraged to contact the Davis Police Department at 530-747-5400
