Deal Police Department seeks re-accreditation status:

Chief Ronen Neuman of the Deal Police Department will welcome a team of assessors from the New Jersey Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (NJLEAC) to the Borough of Deal Police Department from February 25th through 26th. The NJLEAC is commissioned by the New Jersey State Association of the Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP).

Assessors from the NJLEAC will be examining all aspects of the Deal Police Department. The examination will include agency’s policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services. The assessment team will review written materials, interview individuals, and visit assets and locations where compliance can be witnessed. The department voluntary initiated this process to gain re-accreditation recognition, a highly esteemed recognition of law enforcement professional distinction.

For any individuals who may wish to offer comments, a telephone call-in session will be held from 9:00AM - 11:00AM on Sunday, February 25, 2018. Interested individuals can reach the accreditation assessors at (732) 531-0284. Telephone comments are limited to five minutes and must address the Deal Police Department’s ability to comply with accreditation standards. Comments can be left for the police department by emailing, [email protected]. A copy of the standards will be available at the Deal Police Department, 190 Norwood Avenue, Deal, New Jersey. Standards can be obtained through Sergeant Daniel Kobil at (732) 531-1113.

The Accreditation Program Manager for the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police is Mr. Harry J. Delgado. “The assessment team is composed of law enforcement practitioners from similar New Jersey law enforcement agencies. Once the Commission’s assessors complete their review of the agency, they will report to the full Commission, which will then decide if the agency is to be granted accredited status”, Harry J. Delgado stated.

Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the Deal’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may send them by email to Harry J Delgado, Accreditation Program Manager, [email protected], by phone 856.334.8943, or write to the New Jersey State Association of Chief’s of Police, Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission at 751 Route 73 North, Suite 12, Marlton, N.J. 08053.

The Deal Police Department must comply with a total of 105 standards in order to achieve accreditation recognition. This will be the Deal Police Department’s third accreditation assessment. If accreditation is granted, accredited status will be effective for three years.
