Channahon is expected to receive a significant snow event over the next couple of days. The Village would like to remind residents and guests of ordinance 70.1303 (a) 3. b. prohibiting street parking once two (2) inches or more of snow has fallen. This prohibited parking remains in effect from the time of two (2) inch accumulation until the snow has been removed from curb to curb.

With snowfall predictions continuing on Friday into Saturday, this parking restriction is expected to extend into Sunday.

In the Village’s efforts to clear the streets, residents are also reminded that the depositing of snow upon the public streets is prohibited by ordinance 95.35.

The safety of our residents and guests are of our utmost concern, and we ask that you assist us over the next few days to help keep our roadways safe.

Please give yourself extra time when traveling, or consider staying home if that is an option. Use caution and take frequent breaks when shoveling snow, and look in on our elderly or infirmed residents. Should you need emergency services, please call 911.
