**UPDATED DETAILS**:  After a comprehensive investigation by the Mercer County Prosecutors Office (SCRT) and the West Windsor Township PD’s Traffic & Detective Bureaus the following was determined:  On Monday 2/5/2018 at 0834 Hours, West Windsor Township PD Patrol & Traffic Officers and West Windsor Dept. of Fire and Emergency Services responded to the Mercer County Lake (Caspersen Rowing Center side) on a report of a motor vehicle partially submerged in the lake near the Caspersen Rowing Center docks.  One male victim was located inside of the vehicle, a 2008 Ford Edge.    Members of WW Fire & Emergency Services entered into the frigid water for a rescue operation and to determine if any additional victims were inside of the mostly submerged vehicle.  The Ford was found to be only occupied by the male, later identified as Calvin Madison, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Follow up investigation revealed that Madison had been a lost motorist during heavy rain after 9 pm on Sunday 2/5/2018.  Madison had navigated the Ford Edge through the South Post Road parking lot (Caspersen Rowing Center side) and was attempting to locate an exit from the area.  The Edge continued into the area of the Caspersen Rowing Center docks.  While doing so, the vehicle inadvertently entered into the Mercer County Lake along the bulkhead of the dock area (**See attached Google Map**).  This action caused side impact airbag deployment inside of the Ford.  Despite Madison’s efforts, he was unable to exit the vehicle.  This incident is being categorized as a tragic event.
