News Release: Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash

NARRATIVE:
On Saturday 02/03/2018 at approximately 02:39 AM, the Township of Ocean Police Department responded to the area of South Lincoln Avenue near Oakwood Avenue for reports of a loud crash. Upon police arrival, the officers located a single car collision involving a 2006 Audi A8 which was occupied by two adult males.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on South Lincoln Avenue and was approaching the intersection of Oakwood Avenue. The vehicle, which left the roadway continued east where it ultimately struck a tree and came to rest. One occupant died as a result of his injuries sustained in the collision and the other occupant was transported to an area hospital with multiple injuries. No names are being released at this time and the matter is still under investigation.
The collision is being investigated by Officer Philip Jackson of the Township of Ocean Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Response Team. Anyone that may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Traffic Safety Bureau at 732-531-1800.
