Suspect: John Edward Barella, 70 year old, Petaluma
Incident Summary:
On Friday, February 2nd, 2018 at approximately 8:45 pm Petaluma Police officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Elm Drive on report of a vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers located a newer model Chevy pickup truck on its side. The driver, John Edward Barella, was trapped in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The Petaluma Fire Department responded and extricated Barella from the vehicle. It was determined Barella was traveling southbound on Elm Drive and collided with a parked car. As a result of the collision the parked vehicle was turned perpendicular in the roadway and Barella’s vehicle rolled onto its side.
Barella exhibited signs and symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. His blood alcohol content was measured at .19%. Barella was arrested for 23152(b) VC; Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
