SUNNYVALE, CA - On February 1st at approximately 6:50 am, Sunnyvale DPS patrol and fire personnel responded on the report of a major injury collision on Caribbean Ave. at Borregas Ave. First arriving personnel found a 55 -year-old male bicyclist down in the roadway. Lifesaving medical efforts were started, but the bicyclist did not survive. The bicyclist was involved in a collision with a semi-truck. The driver of the truck, a 46-year-old male is cooperating with investigators. Neither drugs or alcohol appeared to be involved. The identity of the bicyclist is pending with the Medical Examiner. The Sunnyvale DPS Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is investigating the collision. The cause of the collision is unknown.
