Thank you to the Palmdale Sheriff’s Boosters, Deputies from Palmdale Sheriff’s Station are better prepared for mass casualty incidents! Following the Las Vegas active shooter incident, the Palmdale Sheriff’s Boosters provided funding for (4) Mass Casualty Incident Trauma bags. Three bags have been have placed in the Sergeant vehicles, and one placed with the ERT response gear. Each bag contains 2 Bag Valve Mask Resuscitators and 16 Victim Trauma Kits. Inside the trauma kits are the following:
- Tourniquet
- Hemostatic Gauze
- Chest Seals
- Trauma Bandage
- Heat Blanket
- Gloves
These kits are for swift treatment of life-threatening trauma only; those injuries that can be fatal in only a few minutes. They are for treatment of critical massive bleeding, penetrating chest wounds, and traumatic shock. Each bag can potentially treat 16-50 victims, depending on the nature and number of injuries.
