Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of a Hispanic man that occurred in the 15400 block of Lefloss Avenue, Norwalk, on Sunday, January 28, 2018.

Homicide detectives have arrested 27-year old David Vergara (booking # 5216730). Based on evidence and interviews with Suspect Vergara, who produced a rifle in the backyard of the location where the shooting occurred, he was transported to Norwalk Station and booked for Murder.  He is being held in lieu of one million dollars bail.
 
Although the victim and the suspect were friends the motive for the shooting remains unknown.
 
Suspect Vergara’s booking photo is not being released.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau Detectives are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of a male Hispanic adult that occurred on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at approximately 4:26 a.m. on the 15400 block of Lefloss Avenue, Norwalk.
 
Detectives have learned that deputies responded to the location regarding a “gunshot” victim call.  Upon their arrival they located the victim with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. 
 
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. 
 
The preliminary investigation has revealed the suspect, male Hispanic adult, and the victim were intoxicated in the backyard of the location.  The suspect produced a rifle and for unknown reasons the weapon discharged, hitting the victim.
 
The suspect remained at the scene and is being detained pending interviews from detectives. 
 
The relationship between the victim and suspect is unknown at this time.
 
The rifle was recovered.
 
The investigation is on-going and there is no additional information available at this time.
