1/25 – 2:26 a.m. – A Millstadt Officer stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of West White Street, due to the vehicle having expired registration. During the course of the stop, probable cause was developed to search the vehicle. The vehicle was occupied by three juveniles. A Smithton Officer was requested to assist. During the search of the vehicle, a loaded handgun was discovered. Upon completing the investigation, the reports were forwarded to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney – Juvenile Division. On the 26th the state’s attorney’s office charged one of the juveniles with the following two offenses:
Count 1: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm – A Class 4 Felony
Count 2: Obstructing ID – A Class A Misdemeanor
None of the juveniles were from the Millstadt area.
