Advisory

Adopt a Hydrant near your residence it could save time in an emergency

Now that winter is finally here please take a moment to notice where the closest fire hydrant is located to your residence.  Truckee Fire is encouraging an adopt a hydrant in your neighborhood.  Take a picture or a measurement of the hydrant to the closest object such as a powerpole or street sign so when the snow gets deep you can still find it. While most of them are marked with a stake sometimes they break or are pushed over making it more difficult to locate. Truckee Fire crews do go out and clear hydrants as time allows but with 4000 hydrants in our district we are unable to get to all of them.  That's where your help comes in.  If you choose to adopt a hydrant please email us your name and nearest address to the hydrant at [email protected] so we can thank you for your participation.  If you have trouble locating your hydrant give us a call  530-582-7853 so we can assist with that as well.
Thanks for your participation it could save valuable time in an emergency.
