Greg Boren was arrested in Meiners Oaks January 16, 2018 for narcotics violations and was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura. He had no identification at the time, and he gave the arresting deputy the name of Kyle Smith. When his fingerprints were compared to the Department of Justice database, his true identity of Greg Boren was revealed, coupled with the fact that he was wanted on two counts of attempted murder in Colorado. Investigators have since learned one of Boren’s victims has died of his injuries, thus changing one of the charges to murder. Boren’s local narcotics charges have been dropped by the District Attorney’s Office, clearing the way for his extradition to Colorado. Boren’s arrest stemmed from a traffic stop that took place when Deputy’s arrest leads to apprehension of a subject wanted by the US Marshal’s Office for two counts of attempted murder in Colorado. Deputy Kathryn Torres was on routine patrol when she observed a vehicle with expired registration tags. Prepared by: Sgt.
