LOCATION: Beryl Street/ Pepper Street, Rancho Cucamonga
SUSPECT: Angel Michael Herrera, 19 year-old from Upland

SUMMARY:

On January 22, 2018, at 12:26 a.m., Deputy Silva from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white PT Cruiser running multiple stop signs. A vehicle pursuit ensued after the male driver of the vehicle failed to pull over. The pursuit lead deputies through several city and residential streets exceeding speeds of over 80mph. The suspect vehicle drove on the wrong side of the road during the pursuit and showed no regard for the public’s safety. The Ontario Police Department’s Airship also assisted with the pursuit.

The PT Cruiser came to a stop after the driver collided with a street light pole on Archibald Avenue and 9th Street where the driver fled on foot into a dirt field. Deputies apprehended Angel Herrera after a short foot pursuit and took him into custody. Two other occupants of the suspect vehicle were detained. Through investigation, deputies learned the two occupants of the vehicle plead multiple times with Herrera to let them out of the vehicle, but he refused.

Herrera was subsequently arrested and booked into West Valley Detention Center where he was booked with a bail amount of $105,000.
