The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

January 18th

0801 Hours: Officers contacted and arrested a 39-year-old Newark male for a parole violation on the 34900 block of Newark Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1244 Hours: Community Service Officer Verandes recovered a reported stolen Honda Civic and a Honda Accord on the 6600 block of Clark Avenue. Both vehicles were towed from the scene and the registered owners were notified of the recovery.

January 19th

1808 Hours: Officer Khairy investigated a storage unit burglary at Public Storage, 38290 Cedar Boulevard. The loss is collector toys valued at $5,000.

2014 Hours: Officer Jackman investigated an auto burglary at Oasis Fitness, 35145 Newark Boulevard. The loss is two gym bags containing clothing.

2014 Hours: Officer Herbert investigated an auto burglary at Chase Bank, 6213 Jarvis Avenue. The loss is a purse.

0133 Hours: Officer Khairy contacted and arrested a 20-year-old Newark male for driving without a license on Thornton Avenue at SR84. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

0326 Hours: Officer Slavazza initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle stopped in the traffic lane of westbound Thornton Avenue at Newark Boulevard. The driver, a 46-year-old Newark male was arrested for driving under the influence and booked into the Fremont Jail.

January 20th

1022 Hours: Officer Palacio contacted and arrested a 58-year-old transient male for having an open container of alcohol in a prohibited place on the 5500 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1130 Hours: Officer Rivera investigated a single vehicle non-injury traffic collision on the 7600 Block of Aspen Place.

1422 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated a battery that occurred at Chuck E. Cheeseā€™s, 39839 Mowry School Road.

2025 Hours: Officers Herbert and Jackman responded to the area of Bellhaven Avenue for an unwanted subject going to the door asking for money. The suspect, a 55-year-old transient female was located on the 36300 block of Newark Boulevard and arrested for disorderly conduct, battery on a Police Officer and obstructing a Police Officer. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2218 Hours: Officer Khairy responded to a disturbance at Bonchon Chicken, 39770 Cedar Boulevard. A 25-year-old San Marcos female was arrested for disorderly conduct / being under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

January 21st

1237 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance between a male and female on Mowry Avenue and 880. A 20-year-old Newark male was arrested for his outstanding warrant and booked into the Fremont Jail.
