Driver: Scott Buchan, 42 year old Petaluma Resident
Incident Summary:
On January 20, 2018, officers were dispatched to the area of Petaluma Boulevard North at Magnolia Avenue to investigate the report of a possible DUI driver. Prior to police arrival, the driver turned into the Petaluma Factory Outlets and crashed into a parked vehicle.
Upon arrival, Officers located the driver Scott Buchan with the vehicle. Buchan exhibited signs and symptoms consistent with being under the influence of a controlled substance. Buchan demonstrated impairment during field sobriety tests and officers located prescription medications along with numerous empty nitrous oxide canisters (Whippets) inside Buchan’s vehicle. Buchan was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, violation of probation, driving with a suspended license, and possession of a controlled substance. Buchan was transported and booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
The Petaluma Police Department wants to thank the concerned citizen for reporting Buchan’s driving and assisting with the investigation.
