Case of the Week - Warrant Check Results in Two Arrests

On 1/17/18, at approximately 1130 hours, an officer was conducting a warrant and probation check on the 2100 block of Gold Street in San Jose. The officer observed Tosha Bailey, known to law enforcement for numerous prior arrests, near a vehicle in the motel parking lot with an individual later identified as Joseph Paulson.
The officer confirmed Bailey is on active probation with search terms and approached the two suspects. Both parties displayed objective symptoms of stimulant use. Bailey was argumentative and attempted to pull from the officer’s grasp after being informed that she was being detained.
During the investigation, Bailey admitted to methamphetamine use and being in possession of other people’s personal identification. A search of Bailey and Paulson's vehicle yielded property and forms of identification belonging to several victims. Officers also found drug paraphernalia, an illegal spring loaded knife and a fictitious check. A search of the suspects motel room revealed, two computers, a printer, black check paper, additional forms of identification belonging to numerous victims and additional drug paraphernalia.
Both parties were arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.
