The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
January 12th
1111 Hours: Officer D. Johnson contacted and arrested a 30-year-old transient male for public intoxication on the 5100 block of Tenaya Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
1129 Hours: Officer Lenz contacted and arrested a 26-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrant on the 5700 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
1907 Hours: Officer Quinones contacted and arrested a 46-year-old Newark male for possession of drug paraphernalia at Civic Center Park, 6300 Civic Terrace Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
2250 Hours: Officer Khairy responded to a disturbance on the 37900 block of Dahlia Drive. A 22-year-old Newark male was arrested for his outstanding warrant and subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.
0136 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated an attempted vehicle theft on the 39100 block of Ebbetts Street.
0241 Hours: Officer Quinones investigated an attempted vehicle theft at NewPark Mall, 5920 NewPark Mall Drive.
0336 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 21-year-old Newark female for driving under the influence on Cedar Boulevard at Central Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
0400 Hours: Officer Khairy contacted and arrested a 22-year-old Newark male for possession of burglary tools and drug paraphernalia on Cedar Boulevard at Music Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
January 13th
1131 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated the theft of the rear license plate off a vehicle on the 8100 block of Pebble Beach Avenue.
1634 Hours: Officer Nobbe investigated the theft of a 2002 Blue Pontiac Grand Am from Pic N Pull, 7400 Mowry Avenue.
1838 Hours: Officer Herbert contacted and arrested a 35-year-old Newark female for trespassing on the 6300 block of Mayhews Landing Road. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
1907 Hours: Officer Quinones contacted and arrested a 42-year-old transient male for his outstanding warrant on the 5600 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
0003 Hours: Officer Wallace contacted and arrested a 62-year-old Newark male for driving under the influence on Cherry Street at Robinson Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
January 14th
0918 Hours: Officer Wang contacted and arrested a 46-year-old Fremont male for his outstanding warrants during a traffic stop on the 3000 block of NewPark Mall Road. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
1135 Hours: Officer Nobbe recovered a Honda Civic that was reported stolen out of Hayward on the 5400 block of Central Avenue. The vehicle was released to the registered owner.
1213 Hours: Officer Wang contacted and arrested a 20-year-old Richmond male for his outstanding warrants during a traffic stop on McDonald Avenue at Cedar Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
0103 Hours: Officer Slavazza initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at Jarvis Avenue at Fircrest Street. The driver, a 30-year-old Newark male was arrested for driving under the influence and subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.
January 15th
0819 Hours: Officers Allum and Palacio contacted and arrested a 25-year-old Fremont Male for driving under the influence while conducting speed enforcement on Cherry Street. The driver was booked into the Fremont Jail and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
0923 Hours: Officer Quinonez responded to a disturbance on the 7100 block of Cabernet Street. A 33-year-old Newark male was arrested for battery and booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
0939 Hours: Officer Wang investigated a hit and run accident on Mowry Avenue at Cherry Street.
1235 Hours: Officer Wang investigated a grab and run theft from Macy’s, NewPark Mall.
2117 Hours: Officer Piquette investigated a residential burglary on the 35300 block of Severn Drive. A Red 2000 Volkswagen Beetle (CA License# DSED) was also stolen from the garage.
