Deputies arrest 2 suspects for identity theft

LOCATION: 7900 block of Day Creek Blvd., Rancho Cucamonga
SUSPECT: Rebecca Cervantes, 43-year-old resident of Rialto
Steven Jonathan Hale, 39-year-old resident of Rancho Cucamonga
SUMMARY:
On January 6, 2018, at approximately 3:15 a.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to the 7900 block of Day Creek Boulevard regarding someone breaking into the apartment complex mailboxes. Deputies were told a gold colored vehicle was parked next to the mailboxes that looked suspicious.
Deputies arrived and detained Rebecca Cervantes inside of the vehicle as she tried to leave the apartment complex. Through further investigation, deputies learned Steven Hale, was the man breaking into the mailboxes, he left the scene before deputies arrived.
Inside the suspect vehicle, deputies located burglary tools and stolen mail. Cervantes was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for identity theft, her bail is $50,000.
On January 10, 2018, Hale was arrested by MET deputies in Pomona during a probation check. Hale was booked into the West Valley Detention Center for the warrant related to the case and an additional warrant, his bail is $50,000.
