Advisory

SPSLWX from 1/12/2018 9:44 PM to 1/13/2018 3:45 AM EST for Jefferson County: RAIN CHANGING TO SLEET AND SNOW

944 PM EST Fri Jan 12 2018

...RAIN CHANGING TO SLEET AND SNOW OVERNIGHT...

A strong cold front will usher in much colder air across the
region later tonight. Before precipitation ends, rain is expected
to change to sleet and snow northwest of the Interstate 81
corridor, and may do so as far southeast as the northern and
western suburbs of Baltimore and Washington. While road
temperatures are currently warm, gusty winds and rapidly falling
temperatures could cause a flash freeze on untreated surfaces,
especially in locations where precipitation lingers after the
temperatures have fallen below freezing. Accumulations on non-
paved surfaces will be light, ranging from an inch or two across
eastern Allegany, eastern Grant and eastern Mineral counties down
to just a light coating along the I-81 corridor. Little or no
accumulation is expected close to Baltimore and Washington.

Overnight and early Saturday morning motorists should monitor
road conditions closely and exercise caution if sleet and snow
begin falling.
