Police Blotter January 2nd through January 7th

January 2nd

Shoplifting – (Lucky) 1000 El Cerrito Plaza:
An officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 30-year-old transient man after he stole food from the store. The man was cited in the field.

Sexual battery – 11965 San Pablo Ave:
An officer reports that a 24-year-old Richmond man pinned a female up against a construction fence and placed his hand under her clothing. The man was arrested and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. After booking, the man was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Petty theft – (Walgreens) 11565 San Pablo Ave:
An officer reports a known suspect entered the store and stole a prepaid cell phone from the clerk as she was explaining its usage.

Grand Theft – (Verizon) 410 El Cerrito Plaza:
At approximately 1832 hours, an unknown suspect entered Verizon and walked directly to where the Apple Products were displayed and forcibly removed an iPhone 6, iPhone 6s plus, and an IPad Pro and fled the store. The suspect was described as a black male, 18 to early 20s, blue hoodie w/hood up and tied tight, and blue washed out jean.

Warrant – Potrero Ave / S. 56th Street:
At 1944 hours, an officer recognized a 26-year-old Richmond man and arrested him on a no bail warrant for violating his Post-Release Community Supervision status. He was booked at the ECPD and then transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

Stolen Vehicle (Recovery) – San Pablo Ave / Cutting Blvd:
At 0109 hours, an Officer conducted a traffic stop on a white Mercedes and learned it was reported stolen to San Mateo County Sheriff on 1/3/18. He arrested the 35-year-old driver from Vallejo and transported him to the ECPD for booking and then to County Jail.

January 3rd

Stolen Vehicle – 10800 block of San Pablo Ave:
Sometime between 1630 and 1730 hours, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1996 Acura Integra.

Warrant – (Safeway) 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 2230 hours, an officer was flagged down at Safeway regarding a suspected theft and detained a 31-year-old Vallejo man. No theft could be confirmed but he was wanted on a Contra Costa County warrant. He was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and then transported to Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant – 900 block of Galvin Drive:
At 0106 hours, officers responded to a disturbance call and contacted a 41-year-old El Cerrito man. He was wanted on a Sonoma County warrant. He was arrested and cited it the field.

January 4th

Attempted residential burglary – 6800 block of Waldo Avenue:
An officer reports that an unknown suspect knocked on the victim’s door but the victim did not answer. The suspect then attempted to break down the victim’s door. The suspect fled to an awaiting vehicle when the victim screamed.

Vandalism – Hillside Nature Area:
An officer reports that an unknown suspect cut a 1 inch wide x 1 inch deep groove around the trunk of 4 eucalyptus trees in an attempt to kill them.

Warrant, Possess Controlled Substance – Carlson Blvd / San Pablo Ave:
At 2035 hours, an Officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 50-year-old Richmond man a no cite Contra Costa warrant and for possession of methamphetamine and a pipe. He was booked at the ECPD, cited on the new charges, and then transported to county jail on the warrant.

Warrant, Possess Controlled Substance – Cutting Blvd / I-80 On-ramp:
At 2207 hours, an Officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested 38-year-old Richmond man on a no bail Contra Costa warrant and for possession of heroin. He was booked at the ECPD, cited on the new charges, and then transported to Martinez Detention Facility on the warrant.

DUI – Carlson Blvd / Plumas Ave:
At 0106 hours, an Officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 66-year-old Richmond man for DUI. He was booked at the ECPD and then released on a citation.

January 5th

Auto Burglary – 11740 San Pablo Ave:
At 2046 hours, an officer reports between the evening of 1/2/18 and 1/5/18 at 1400 hours, an unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger window of the victim’s vehicle and ransacked two briefcases which were inside the vehicle. However, no items were taken.

Armed Robbery – (Burger King) 6021 Central Ave:
At 2012 hours, an officer reports an unknown suspect ordered food at the drive thru. Once the suspect reached the window he displayed a pistol and demanded the till. The employee at the window complied and gave the suspect the till. The suspect then fled west on Central Avenue. The till contained approximately $300.00.

Warrant Arrest and Possession of Controlled Substance - (Walgreen’s) 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 2127 hours, an officer responded to the business for an unwanted person. The officer arrived and contacted a 22-year-old male and discovered he had three outstanding warrants. A custody search of the male revealed he was in possession of 4.1 grams of a suspected controlled substance. The male was booked and transported to county jail.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Avenue / Cutting Blvd:
At 2257 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested the passenger, a 18-year-old male from Richmond, after it was discovered he had an outstanding warrant. The male was booked then transported to county.

Robbery (Armed) – Cutting Blvd / Junction Ave:
At 0055 hours, an officer was flagged down by a male who was staggering in the roadway. The officer contacted the male and discovered the male was victim of a robbery. The victim was walking to his vehicle which was parked on Cutting Blvd when the suspect appeared from a bush and displayed a pistol and demanded the victim’s property. The victim refused to give the suspect his backpack so the suspect struck the victim on the head with the pistol, knocking him to the ground. Once on the ground the suspect went through the victim’s pocket and removed a phone and wallet. The suspect fled on foot west on Cutting Blvd. The victim was transported to Kaiser Richmond by AMR.

January 6th

Warrant Arrest - Creekside Park:
At 1207 hours, an officer followed up on an unoccupied homeless encampment he located yesterday and contacted a 41-year-old transient male. He was wanted on a felony No Bail burglary warrant. He was arrested, booked and transported to the MDF.

Robbery - (Ross) 2000 EC Plaza:
At 1700 hours, Officers responded to the report of an Estes robbery at Ross. The suspect fought with staff while stealing clothing items. An officer located a 27-year-old Oakland man hiding at the BART station. He was identified and placed under arrest. He was also a parolee at large. He was booked and will have to be transported to the MDF.

Auto Burglary – 500 block of Oak St:
At 2205 hours, an officer reports between 2030 and 2200 hours, an unknown suspect shattered a window to the victim’s vehicle and conducted a ransack. No reported loss.

Robbery, Poss. of a Stolen Firearm, Poss. of Firearm in Public, Firearm used in Commission of Robbery – (Burger King) 6021 Central Avenue:
At 2054 hours, officers learned of a several robberies similar to the robbery which occurred at the Burger King the previous evening. After two additional robberies occurred in Richmond and San Pablo an officer took a position on Central Avenue in anticipation of the suspect returning to El Cerrito. The officer spotted the suspect vehicle and officers stopped the vehicle. The occupant would subsequently be identified as the suspect in the San Pablo robbery. Inside the vehicle a loaded pistol was located. The pistol matched the description given to officers in the other cases. Subsequently the driver, a 20-year-old male from Emeryville, was taken into custody. Additional police agencies met at the ECPD where the male was identified as the responsible in several other robberies throughout the area.

January 7th

Commercial Burglary - (Bossa Nova Brazil) 10478 San Pablo Ave:
At 1139 hours, an officer responded to the report of a commercial burglary attempt. An unidentified suspect tried to pry the lock on an exterior door in between 1800 hours and 1100 hours. Two days prior, an unidentified suspect “tapped” the front window causing it to crack but not shatter.

Auto Theft - 500 block of Norvell St:
At 1012 hours, an officer responded to the report of a stolen vehicle. In between 0930 and 1000 hours, an unidentified suspect stole a tan 2000 Toyota Camry.

Driving under the Influence - Blake Street / Elm Street:
At 2152 hours, an officer located a vehicle stopped in the roadway. The officer approached and saw the driver, A 23-year-old male from Richmond, was passed out behind the wheel. After a couple minutes the male finally woke. The male was obviously intoxicated and he was unable to stand on his own. The male was taken into custody. After booking the male was cited to friends.
