Cass County Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on 01/11/2018 at 2:30am his Deputies responded to assist Silver Creek Township Police Department for a report of a possible Breaking and Entering in progress. Silver Creek Township Police noticed that a suspicious vehicle was located and a house was broken into, near the 31000 Block of Magician Lake Terrace in Silver Creek Township, Cass County, Michigan. Silver Creek Township Police requested the Cass County K9 Unit to respond to attempt a track for suspects. Cass County K9 Faust responded to the location and began a search for the suspects. K9 Faust tracked the suspects from the back door of the residence approximately 1/2 mile across several yards and into a wooded area. Two subjects were located hiding in the wooded area and were taken into custody. A 26 year old Michigan City man and a 29 year old Elkhart man were transported to the Cass County Jail where they will wait to be arraigned on several charges regarding Breaking and Entering. The names of the subjects will not be released until they have been arraigned. The case will remain open at this time pending further investigation.
