On January 9, 2018, at about 10:40 a.m., Fairfield Police K9 Officer Amanda Graham conducted a traffic enforcement stop on a Toyota Rav4 in the 300 block of Travis Blvd. Once stopped, both the driver and front passenger of the car immediately got out and ran in separate directions.
After a short chase, the driver of the car was caught and arrested without incident while the passenger ran south into the surrounding neighborhood. With the help of several citizen witnesses, arriving officers were able to locate him in the area of N. Texas and Bell where he was taken into custody without incident. During a search of the area where the passenger ran, officers located his discarded sweatshirt and a citizen located a discarded, loaded handgun.
The two back seat passengers of the car, a male, and a female were detained by responding officers without incident as they tried to leave the area. The female is currently on Solano County Probation and was found to be in possession of a concealed, loaded 9mm firearm.
The driver, 36-year-old Jamie Wright of Fairfield, was booked into Solano County Jail for Resisting Arrest and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. The passenger, 40-year-old Michael Richerson of Fairfield, was booked into Solano County Jail for Possession of a Controlled Substance while Armed, Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Felon in Possession of a Gun and Ammunition, and Possession of a Concealed Firearm while Driving a Vehicle. The female, 37-year-old Jamie Nelson of Fairfield, was booked into Solano County Jail for Possession of a Controlled Substance while Armed, a Probation Violation, Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Felon in Possession of a Gun and Ammunition.
It is calls like this where we truly value the partnerships with the community and our citizens zero tolerance with such criminals. Thanks to the alert, vigilant community members we were able to remove two more guns off the street!
