Daly City's New Chief of Police

This morning, City Manager Patricia Martel appointed Captain Patrick Hensley as our newest Police Chief. Pat has been a member of the Daly City Police Department since 1994, where he began his career as a patrol officer. He was then assigned as a special agent for the San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force and later returned as a field training officer. Pat was promoted to sergeant in 2002 where he was assigned to both the Patrol Division and the Training and Recruiting Unit. His responsibilities in the Training Unit included the hiring of all Department Personnel, and managing the Field Training Program. In 2007, Pat was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and was assigned to the Patrol Division as a Watch Commander. A few years later, he was assigned as the Commander of the Investigations Division. His responsibilities included the supervision of all detectives, the management of all investigations to include long term multi-jurisdictional investigations with our state and federal law enforcement partners. In 2012, Pat was promoted to Captain and has served as the Support Services Bureau Commander and most recently the Field Operations Bureau Commander.

Chief Hensley holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Services Administration from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont. He earned a Master of Arts Degree in Security Studies at the Naval Postgraduate School Center for Homeland Defense and Security. Chief Hensley is also a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy, the L.A.P.D. Leadership Academy, and the POST Command College.
