Advisory

Snow Removal from Sidewalks

In Aberdeen Township, it is the responsibility of the owner of any residential lot to remove all snow and ice from the sidewalk area in front of or bordering the lot within 24 hours of the end of the storm event. The sidewalk area should be cleared to a width of at least three feet.

For non-residential lots abutting or bordering on the sidewalks of a public street, the property owner or operator is required to remove all snow and ice from the sidewalk area in front of or bordering the site within 12 hours of the cessation of the storm.

If the property owner or operator fails to or refuses to clean the areas in the time frames provided, the Township has the power to remove the snow or ice and bill the associated costs to the owner.

For complete details on Aberdeen’s snow removal ordinance, visit the Township website:  http://www.aberdeennj.org, select the “Township Ordinances” tab on the home page and then select Ordinance No. 15-2015.
