WINTER STORM UPDATE 11 AM
This appears to be the height of the storm. Road conditions have deteriorated over the past two hours. Snow bands have limited visibility and travel is hazardous. Two dozen officers are working to answer calls including several motor vehicle crashes. South Brunswick Public Works has multiple plow crews working.
Total snow accumulations are expected to be close to 8 inches of snow.
There is NO Garbage or Recycling today. All of today’s pickups will be done tomorrow.
Tonight’s scheduled Township Traffic Advisory Committee (TAC) meeting is cancelled.
TRAFFIC –
The road conditions have gotten much worse with vehicles and trucks becoming stuck. Snow drifts and icy conditions have made Route 1 between New Road and Beekman Road difficult.
The rapid snowfall have left all roads hazardous. High winds are expected to blow snow back on to plowed roads fro several hours.
CLOSED –
All Township buildings are closed
Weather Forecast -
Ongoing Moderate to Heavy Snow...Snow continues at a moderate to heavy intensity and this will be the case through at least Noon, gradually it winds down during the afternoon, but it will be slow to completely end (3-5 PM). While totals have been increased, the strong wind will create a wide range of variability from bare spots to drifts over a foot. Expect continued problems from winds of 25-45 MPH which will create significant blowing / drifting and low visibility. The winds continue tonight through Friday with bitter cold temperatures.
