Advisory

Extreme cold and snow Wednesday night into Thursday evening

From The Ocean County Sheriff’s Office, Office of Emergency Management

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Here are the key messages regarding the dangerously cold weather over the coming week.

  1. Snow is likely across eastern portions of our region Wednesday night into Thursday. Attached is our latest snow fall forecast. Southern Delaware and southeastern New Jersey will likely see the highest amounts and measurable snow is possible as far west as the Lehigh Valley. However, our confidence in the forecast amount is below average as it is still uncertain how close this system will track to the coast.
  2. Much of the region will remain below freezing throughout this week. At this time, Thursday night and Friday night look to be the coldest periods of the week. Long range models indicate a good chance for temperatures above freezing (with the exception of the southern Poconos and NW NJ) by next Monday (1/8).

The latest forecast is available at www.weather.gov/phi and our latest snow amount forecast and probabilistic snow maps are available at www.weather.gov/phi/winter. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the forecast, feel free to give us a call. The next email will be sent by 4 PM Tuesday, January 2.

Sincerely,
NWS Philadelphia/Mount Holly
