The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

December 29th

0721 Hours: Officer D. Johnson investigated theft of a Green 1996 Honda Accord (CA License #3STR388) on the 5900 block of Musick Avenue.

1004 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 36 year old Fremont Male for possession of a controlled substance on the 36200 block of Cherry Street. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1315 Hours: Officer Hunter responded to a disturbance at the EZ-8 Motel, 5555 Cedar Court. Officer Hunter subsequently arrested a 35-year-old Newark female for battery and violation of a restraining order. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1316 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 55 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrant on the 35500 block of Cedar Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1809 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated the theft of a White 2016 Honda Pilot (CA License #7WAX315) on the 37800 block of Taro Terrace.

1946 Hours: Officer Slavazza investigated two auto burglaries at Zensen Sushi Express, 35233 Newark Boulevard. The loss was miscellaneous property.

2058 Hours: Officer Quinonez and Field Training Officer Arroyo investigated an auto burglary at Newark Buffet, 35201 Newark Boulevard. The loss was a Canon camera.

2152 Hours: Officer Quinonez and Field Training Officer Arroyo contacted and arrested a 42-year-old Newark male for possession of drug paraphernalia and driving on a suspended license on Central Avenue at California Street. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2205 Hours: Officer Losier investigated a vehicle vandalism case on the 7900 block of Wells Avenue.

December 30th

0733 Hours: Officer Hunter investigated an auto burglary at the Residence Inn, 35466 Dumbarton Court. The loss is green messenger bag with thumb drives.

0804 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated two auto burglaries at the Aloft Hotel, 8200 Gateway Boulevard. The loss is a laptop computer.

0839 Hours: Officer Wang investigated the theft of a Tan 1994 Honda Accord (CA License #4FME994) on the 6500 block of Dairy Avenue.

1526 Hours: Officer Hunter investigated an auto burglary on the 37100 block of Sycamore Street. The loss is clothing and a laptop computer.

2040 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 37-year-old San Bernardino male for his outstanding warrant on the 5900 block of Mowry Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2058 Hours: Officer Quinonez accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 21-year-old Oakland male for shoplifting at Macy’s, NewPark Mall. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

2224 Hours: Officer Losier contacted and arrested a 24-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrant on the 7200 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

0215 Hours: Officer Losier investigated a battery with injury at the Chevron Gas Station, 5502 Thornton Avenue. One victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. The suspects had fled the scene prior to the Officers arrival.

December 31st

0734 Hours: Officers investigated three auto burglaries at the Residence Inn, 35466 Dumbarton Court. There was no reported loss.

1417 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated the theft of two bicycles from an open garage on the 37500 block of Shelter Road.

1717 Hours: Officer Nobbe investigated the theft of a Blue 1996 Honda Accord (CA License # 1VDT993) on the 6100 block of Joaquin Murieta Avenue.

2022 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 22-year-old East Palo Alto male for his outstanding warrant while conducting a traffic stop on Thornton Avenue at Cherry Street. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2022 Hours: Officer Herbert investigated the theft of a Green 2002 Toyota Tacoma (CA License # 6V15945) on the 36800 block of Cherry Street.

0011 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance on the 6100 block of Cotton Avenue. A 44-year-old Newark male was arrested for violation of a restraining order and subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.

0051 Hours: Officer Herbert contacted and arrested a 20-year-old Oakland male for smoking Marijuana in a public place and for violating the terms of a restraining order while conducting a security check of Lakeshore Park. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

January 1st

0840 Hours: Officer Hunter investigated the theft of four wheels and tires off a vehicle on the 6300 block of Joaquin Murieta Avenue.

1040 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated the theft of cash from the cash register at Ole, NewPark Mall.

1242 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated an auto burglary on the 36200 block of Enfield Drive. The loss was a container of sunscreen.

1714 Hours: Officer Wang accepted the citizen’s arrest of a shoplifter in custody at Macy’s NewPark Mall. The 49-year-old male transient male was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0310 Hours: Officer Geser investigated the theft of a Gray 1996 Honda Civic (CA License#5SWF427) on the 6600 block of Fountain Avenue.
