Hockley County Sheriff's Office calls for service and activities for Friday, 12/29/17, through Sunday, 12/31/17.

Good Monday morning! The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for Friday, 12/29/17, through Sunday, 12/31/17.

12/29/17

-FM 2646 at Coyote Rd, Levelland: Animal Complaint. A deputy spoke with a complainant regarding an issue with dogs chasing cattle on the caller’s property. Remedies were advised to the complainant, as well as laws regarding loose dogs in the county.

-100 blk Lakeview, Levelland: Disturbance. A deputy responded to a residence related to a reported disturbance. The disturbance was reported to be verbal and between a juvenile and a parent. Information was collected and the parties were separated. No party wanted to pursue any charges.

-FM 168 at E. Ellis, Smyer: Loose Livestock. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a complaint of loose livestock. On arrival the deputy observed the livestock had been secured.

-Avenue G at Austin, Levelland: Warrant Service. A deputy located an individual wanted for multiple warrants. The individual was taken into custody and transported to the jail.

-Hwy 385 at Koala Rd, Levelland: Vehicle Crash. Deputies responded to a reported vehicle crash in the area. The scene was turned over to DPS troopers.

-600 blk Edwards, Anton: Disturbance. Deputies were dispatched to a residence related to a disturbance involving child custody. The caller later informed deputies the other involved party left the residence. No offenses were reported.

-FM 168 at E. Ellis, Smyer: Loose Livestock. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a loose donkey. The donkey was located and secured.

-Hwy 114 at Cedar, Levelland: Warrant Service. A deputy conducted a vehicle stop after observing a violation. The driver was arrested after the deputy was notified of active arrest warrants. The individual was taken into custody and transported to the jail without incident.

-3500 blk Sagebrush, Sundown: Disturbance. A deputy responded to the area related to an unwanted individual at a residence. Prior to arrival of deputies the involved party left the residence. No offenses were reported. The homeowner requested the other involved party receive a criminal trespass notice.

-900 blk Texas, Sundown: Vehicle Fire. A deputy was dispatched to a vehicle fire near a residence in the area. The fire department responded and extinguished the fire.

-3200 blk Hwy 385, Levelland: Assist EMS. A deputy responded to assist EMS with a patient. One individual was later transported to an area hospital.

12/30/17

-Cactus at Barton Ln, Levelland: Found Property. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a safe being found in the ditch. The deputy located the safe and it was collected. Deputies are working to locate an owner and any possible reported thefts.

-2300 blk E. Ellis, Levelland: Animal Complaint. A deputy responded to a complaint of dogs being left out in the cold weather. The owners were contacted and the dogs were brought inside.

-FM m168 at E. Ellis, Smyer: Loose Livestock. A deputy was dispatched to a loose donkey in the area. The donkey was located and secured. Deputies are working to locate the owner to discuss the repeated calls.

-FM 303 near Jamaica Rd, Pettit: Criminal Mischief. A deputy was notified of possible criminal mischief to a tractor on the property. Information was collected and a report is pending.

-400 blk Cragin, Sundown: Alarm. A deputy responded to an alarm at a residence in the area. The residence was checked and found to be secure.

-1310 Avenue H, LEC: Assist Jail. A deputy responded to assist with a verbal disturbance in the jail. Inmates were separated and the incident was documented.

12/31/17

-Hwy 114 at FM 303, Levelland: Vehicle Crash. A deputy was dispatched to a single vehicle crash in the area. DPS troopers arrived on scene and the deputy assisted as needed.

-6500 blk E. Ellis, Smyer: Loose Livestock. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a loose donkey. The donkey was located and secured. The owners were contacted.

-3700 blk Barton Ln, Levelland: Disturbance. Deputies responded to a reported disturbance at a residence in the area. The disturbance was determined to be verbal only, and was handled by separation. No offenses were reported.

-200 blk Lawrence, Anton: Fireworks. A deputy responded to a call of possible fireworks in the area. The deputy located the parties and they agreed to stop for the night.

-FM 597 at Howard Rd, Anton: Suspicious Vehicle. A deputy stopped to check status on a vehicle in the area. No offenses were observed or reported and the information was documented.

-3100 blk Hwy 385, Levelland: Shots Fired. A deputy responded to a report of gun shots in the area. The homeowner was located and advised he was shooting on his property. No offenses were observed or reported, and the homeowner advised they would stop for the night due to the noise.

-FM 303 at India Rd, Pettit: Suspicious Activity. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a possible disturbance. It was reported a male and a female were possibly arguing along the roadway. The parties were located and there was no disturbance. They were chasing their dog trying to bring him home after getting loose.

-700 blk Malachi, Sundown: Assist EMS. Deputies were notified of an EMS assist at a residence in the area. One individual was transported to an area hospital.

-2300 blk E. Ellis, Levelland: Disturbance. Levelland PD assisted with a reported disturbance at a residence in the area. Information was collected and passed on to deputies. Parties were separated. No offenses were reported, but deputies will follow-up with persons involved.

Deputies also conducted close patrols/vacation watches, patrols in areas all areas of the county, investigative follow-up activities, and traffic enforcement.

Jail population as of Monday, 1/1/18 at 0800 hours: 50 in Hockley County, 2 out of county.
