Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing their investigation on the 100 block of East Maple Street in the city of Compton, regarding the shooting death of one male adult, and the wounding of another male adult that occurred at approximately 1:00 A.M., on Sunday, December 31, 2017.
Investigators have learned that the shooting occurred as the two victims were sitting in a parked vehicle at the location when an unknown person fired multiple gunshots into the parked vehicle.
One male adult was struck by the gunfire at least one time in the upper torso, and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The second victim, male adult, was wounded when he was grazed on the leg by gunfire.
There is no suspect description.
There is no additional information and no known motive for the shooting.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau investigators are responding to the 100 block of East Maple Street in the city of Compton, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of an adult male. An additional adult male was also struck by gunfire.
One male adult was pronounced dead at the scene. The additional adult male was treated and later released at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
