Blizzard Warning until 06:00PM Sunday

...BLIZZARD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 PM AKST SUNDAY FOR PORTAGE VALLEY TO TURNAGAIN PASS...

* WHAT...Blizzard conditions expected. Travel will be very dangerous to impossible. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 12 inches, with localized amounts up to 20 inches, are expected.

* WHERE...Portage Valley to Turnagain Pass.

* WHEN...9 PM today to 6 PM Sunday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds gusting as high as 60 mph will cause whiteout conditions in blowing snow. Significant drifting of the snow is likely. Visibilities will be reduced to a quarter mile or less at times. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions, making travel extremely hazardous. Do not travel.
