Good Tuesday morning! The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for Friday, 12/22/17, through Monday, 12/25/17.

12/22/17

-600 blk Justin Rd, Levelland: Alarm. Deputies were dispatched to check a residence related to an alarm. The residence and the property were checked and no offenses were observed or reported by the homeowner.

-2100 blk Lincoln, Levelland: Suspicious Activity. A deputy contacted an individual in a field in the area. The individual was identified and information was documented. No offenses were observed.

-200 blk Lincoln, Smyer: Civil Issue. A deputy responded to a property in the area related to a civil matter involving property. The deputy was later advised the parties worked the issue out and no law enforcement assistance was needed.

-FM 303 near Jamaica Rd, Pettit: Vehicle Crash. A deputy was dispatched to the area related to a vehicle collision with a deer. A DPS trooper arrived and conducted the crash investigation.

12/23/17

-3300 blk Hwy 385, Levelland: Deceased Individual. Deputies were notified of a deceased individual at a residence in the area. Justice of the Peace arrived and investigation determined no criminal circumstances existed. No other information will be released related to the matter.

-FM 2130 at FM 1294, Anton: Fire. A deputy was dispatched to assist with a fire in the area. Fire Departments extinguished the fire and deputies assisted as needed with traffic control.

-FM 1585 at Flowline Rd, Sundown: Loose Livestock. A deputy was notified of a loose cow in the area. The cow was located and secured.

-3100 blk Hwy 114, Levelland: Motorist Assist. A deputy assisted a motorist with changing a tire along the highway.

-Hwy 114 at Alamo Rd, Levelland: Reckless Driver. A deputy was notified of a reckless driver in the area. The vehicle was located and the driver was later released.

-FM 1585 at Lovebird Rd, Smyer: Suspicious Vehicle. A deputy stopped to check status on a vehicle parked in the area. The vehicle was unoccupied and secured. Information was logged and deputies will follow up.

-Hwy 114 near FM 168, Smyer: Traffic Hazard. A deputy was dispatched to assist a motorist after several items came off of the trailer. The hazard was removed and the property was released to the owner when he returned to the scene.

-10th St at Avenue D, Levelland: Drug Paraphernalia. A deputy conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area. During a search of the vehicle drug paraphernalia was located and later confiscated by the deputy. Information was documented and driver was released.

12/24/17

-FM 597 near Hwy 385, Whitharral: Suspicious Vehicle. A deputy was dispatched to the area to attempt to locate a vehicle stopped in the roadway. The area was checked and the vehicle was not located.

-US 84 near FM 168, Anton: Traffic Complaint. A deputy responded to the area after being notified of a loose dog in the roadway. The area was checked and the dog was not located.

-100 blk Main St, Anton: Traffic Complaint. A deputy was dispatched to attempt to locate a juvenile riding an ATV on the roadway. The area was checked and the juvenile was not located.

-300 blk Sylvan, Anton: Civil Issue. A deputy responded to a residence related to a civil matter involving child custody. No contact was made at the residence and civil remedies were advised to the complainant.

-Hwy 114 at N. Barton Ln, Opdyke West: Motorist Assist. A deputy stopped to check on a motorist who had pulled along the roadway. The individual advised he was securing items to the vehicle and no assistance was necessary.

-Hwy 114 near Hummingbird Rd, Levelland: Traffic Complaint. A deputy responded to the area related to a complaint of clothing on the roadway. When the deputy arrived there was not roadway obstruction and a trailer was pulled off of the roadway. The information was logged and deputies will follow up.

12/25/17

-US 84 at FM 2130, Anton: Vehicle Crash. A deputy was dispatched to a vehicle crash in the area. DPS troopers arrived to conduct the crash investigation. A deputy assisted as needed at the scene.

-1310 Avenue H, LEC: Civil Issue. A deputy was asked to contact a complainant regarding a civil matter involving residency. The deputy provided the complainant civil remedies and directed them to contact their attorney and the appropriate Justice of the Peace court for filings.

-Duggan at 9th St, Anton: Shots Fired. A deputy assisted Anton Police regarding a call of shots being fired in the area. It was determined to be fireworks and Anton Police handled the call.

-US 84 at FM 168, Anton: Traffic Compliant. A deputy was notified of a vehicle traveling along the highway with no headlamps activated. The area was checked along US 84 and the vehicle was not located.

Deputies also conducted close patrols/vacation watches, patrols in all areas of the county, investigative follow up activities, and traffic enforcement.

Jail population on 12/26/17 as of 0800 hours: 47 in Hockley County, 6 out of county.
